I selected to watch “Tech-Fueled Differentiated Instruction Engages Elementary School Students”, a video focusing on a technology magnet school. Forest Lake Elementary School is a small school of 592 students in grades prek - 5. The children appear totally immersed in their assignments. The students show excellent knowledge of both hardware and software manipulation, and have undertaken the task of independent study gladly. The educators roam the classroom providing individual assistance and tracking progress. It stimulates me as an educator to see this type of instruction in the classroom. These children will mature and carry their knowledge to the adult lives.
Technology Integration is an important factor in education in any quantity. In a perfect world, we would all like to see our children educated in the manner. Forest Lake Elementary School is on one side of the spectrum of public facilities. The overcrowded urban school with little funding is on the other side of the spectrum. It’s impractical to walk into these schools and attempt modification with the overabundance of technology as seen at Forest Lake. My goal would be to implement a minimum one technology based plan per year on a priority basis depending on the needs of the community.
